Part holding fixture design and fabrication
- We have experience creating fixtures for CNC machining, UV or solvent printing, CO2 or fiber laser engraving, hot stamping and other manufacturing processes where repeatable part locating is necessary.
- Fixtures can be as simple as a matrix of shapes router cut from a 1/16" sheet of plastic (simple, cheap but not particularly robust) to more complex designs that include multiple layers/materials to prevent warping, locating pins and mounting screws, engraved part numbers, etc. If you can imagine it, we can make it.
Sample projects:
-
1/2" thick frosted acrylic salmon and seahorse shapes. CNC router cut for a local mosaic artist. -
This is a two piece design that incorporates a 3d printed spiral flexture along with a cnc machined delrin "foot" on bottom. It is designed to fit on the bottom of a spindle and apply slight downward pressure while cutting thin sheet material. -
3d printed variable airflow vacuum adapter for industrial engraving machine. Printed in black PETG and allows slight increase in air velocity before centrifugal chip separator to increase separation efficiency. -
3d model of variable airflow vacuum adapter. -
Customer's logo machined from .08" solid aluminum. We received a bitmap of customers logo, vectorized it, changed inside corner radii to .0625" so it could be cut with .125" endmill and all edges could be chamfered. -
Chamfer detail -
3d printed chip collection hose holder. This was designed to interface precisely with two unused threaded holes on the side of a milling machine. -
CNC router cut modular flexture jigs for marking parts with a galvo fiber laser. These jigs self-center irregularly shaped parts. -
3d printed arm for robotic material processing machine. Extra thick because it needs to handle being rotated directly by a high torque Nema 24 stepper motor. -
Unique jigs for a Tajima embroidery machine. Jigs for this product didn't exist, so we created them from plywood and 1/8" ABS plastic. -
Customer needed 10 different embroidery jigs in several sizes so we also made a rack to store them under the machine. -
Embroidery jig in action. -
Part holding fixture for UV printing. Base is made from 1/8" aluminum composite material to retain flatness and top is mad from .25" expanded polystyrene (easily machinable, white to reflect UV light and it is relatively soft to reduce likelihood of damage from a head strike).
